Kevin's Story

Life My work life is best summed up by Bono in the song Vertigo: "All the things I wish I didn't know." I am responsible for Regional Countermeasures Programs and Preparedness for the New York City in the Office of Emergency Management. I just spent three days at a DHS Science and Technology conference as a client and fiduciary for the City in all the cutting edge detection and monitoring R&D and technologies. I always wanted to live in NYC and here I am! After I graduated from MSU, I got my first apartment in an historic building on the Cass Coridor in Detroit, managing hospital housekeeping accounts in Michigan and Illinois. Then I moved to Chicago for a year and met my wife Ina (a NY native)in 1989 in a course in California. Since she had the Manhattan apartment and better job, we moved in together within 3 months. We got married in 1990 at still one of the best parties I have ever had at the Nassau Inn in Princeton, NJ. We enjoyed all NY has to offer - married/BC - and found out what it means to be part of the cultural elite for about 5 years; became a big modern dance and ballet fan. enjoy power lounging in all forms. In 1997 we had a beautiful daughter - Hayley. She is a budding Olympic gymnast, competing locally and nationally and usually placing 3rd, 2nd or 1st. We all live in a 20 Century Modern Coop apartment building in the woods of Riverdale overlooking the Hudson River. 3 acres of garden and a pool out back and a nature preserve up the street along the River. We have two very affectionate calico cats, a mother and daughter rescued from an abandoned building in the South Bronx. I am outnumbered (4 girls to 1 boy), but I am basically content. I have developed a good wine sense and have recently starting becoming versed in high quality Japanese sake. Every month (usually) I get out with a bunch of Dad's for a "Dad's Night Out" (DNO) at one of the many fine establishments here. We have all taken many long weekends camping together with our families in the excellent State parks throughout New York. The best part about those is usually getting into the pitch dark upstate and taking in some deep sky watching. I wil always need another long weekend to chill from all the excitement around here. :-)
