Kevin's Story
School
My fondest school memories are of my Kindergarten teacher, Miss Graham "Graham cracker". She was fun and treated us all with love and kindness. I was bused to innercity school in 1974 and my parents moved me to a private christian school. I guess it was to my benefit later. I ran away from school a few times in the fifth grade and once the teacher ran after me and caught me after a few jumped fences. The small Lutheran school .... I don't feel prepared me well enough for highschool. I struggled with math in highschool and college, and still hate math to today. Loved the variety of subjects in highschool, photography, printing, business courses, art, etc.
Military
I joined the Air Force in Sep 1988 and was sent direct duty after boot camp to Cannon AFB, New Mexico. I was a "box kicker", a supply clerk in the mobility bags section. Later moved to Shipping and receiving section. ...Expand for more
I cross trained into Command and Control in 1992 and spend a few weeks in Biloxi, MS for tech school. Then began my career as a command post controller at Air Mobility Command HQ, Scott AFB, IL. Then to Kunsan AB Korea, Fairchild AFB, WA, Diego Garcia NSF Indian Ocean(one year paid vacation), then to Air Force Reserve HQ, Robins AFB, GA. I have got the opportunity to be the SORTS manager, Training NCOIC, and teach some SIOP to aircrews. After seven great years at Air Force Reserve HQ in middle Georgia I was reassigned to CENTCOM HQ in Mar 2007. I am now NCOIC of Console Operations at CENTCOM Command Center in Tampa, Florida. I have visited Japan, Spain, Singapore, Korea, United Arab Emirates and much of the USA. I will most likely visit Qatar before I retire. I plan on retiring from the Air Force in 2009 and settle in middle Georgia. Probably look for a job with the state or postal service.
