Kevin's Story
Life
Unlike some other folks that show up at class reunions with expensive rental cars and suits bought on credit, you won't see me that way. I am the same old Kevin all of you remember but probably a whole lot less assinine than I was in school.
I did finish college (Northwestern University in Chicago) and had much better grades vs high school.I guess college gave me a whole lot of what high school lacked for me which are friends, freedom and responsibility. I basically wasted high school and it basically wasted me. I have few good memories of high school or life back then. School was hell, home was hell too. I was glad to get away from both. And, perhaps back in school, some of you might remember a bad thing I did or said and I will only tell you this- I am very sorry. I am sorry to any of you I may have brought hurt or discomfort to. I admit that I could be an ass at times if not most of the time. I wasn't the most popular guy around and I certainly had my share of life's problems back then.
I am employed at BellSouth now. My main work involves maintenance of the Atlanta & Fulton County E911 centers. I am married and we have 4 kids. My wife, Carmalita, is from Toronto Canada although she was born in Negril Jamaica (yes she is black). We live in Lithia Springs (Austell) Georgia which is west of Atlanta about 32 miles from Alabama. We live within walking or bike distance from Six Flags Over Georgia park.
I really do like it in Georgia. The weather here is good most of the time. And "winter" consist of about 2 months of 30 degree nights and 55 degree day temperatures. We don't have snow but if we miss it, the mountains ...Expand for more
to the north of the city are only a short drive away. The summers are uncomfortable but not unbearable. I have been here since 1996 and don't remember seeing a 100 degree day but it is in the 90s alot.
Looking back at high school, most of you know I never had a real "steady". The only girl I ever really wanted to be with back then (Sheila Wilcoxson) couldn't stand me even though I put alot of effort into trying to win her because she was such a beautiful girl.
Then, there were always those girls a guy could "go out with". I won't name anybody but we all know who they were. The ones that that used to stand out by the west entrance and smoke cigarettes in the morning. I just hope that life has worked out for them.
I do remember the nights we all used to hang out on Douglas at Hardees (Sandy's), the Uptown dollar movies, the Boulevard Bowl, the Fairland Cafe (remember the pinball machine by the front window? I was the champ on that!)the roller rinks at Joyland and on Kellogg and Poplar. I also remember my old job at Mr Magic Car Wash. It was a fun job and it sure beat working at Hardees.
One thing I have found in my life since high school is the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. My hope is that you have found it too. He has always been my best friend even when I didn't know Him and didin't want to know Him. Know Jesus and know peace.
Anyway, let me say in closing that I would LOVE to hear from any of you that knew me. It doesn't matter whether or not you liked me or I liked you. That is all in the past like East High. I would love to get to know you again and hear how you are doing. Drop me a line!
Be Blessed, Kev
