Kevin's Story
Life
WOW! Its now almost 30 years after High School and they want me to narrow down everything that has transpired in my life to 4000 characters or less? Well the least I can do is update the story once in a while, so here goes.
Lets try this. I was married for 15 years to an AV High graduate (Yeah, I know, what was I thinking). I was divorced for almost 8 years, but remarried in January of 2006 to a beautiful woman named Tamara (She's the blond in the photo next to me). That same year, we relocated and purchased a new home in the master-planned community of Terra-Lago near La Quinta (Palm Springs area). My son (he's almost 20 now) has moved back in with us after spending about two years on his own and deciding that the real world is tough! Hopefully he will be attending College of the Desert in Palm Desert in the fall. I also have a daughter (she's almost 16) who lives with Tamara and I and attends Palm Desert High School where Tamara is the chair of the Dance Department and the Director of the Dance Production group.
Some of you may remember that my Dad owned the old A.V. Skateway where I worked part-time until after high school. At the same time that I was working for my Dad, I was also working part time for a couple of different Civil Engineering firms as a draftsman. I've been in the land development consulting world since I was 16 years old. I'm currently working as the Program Manager and Certified Land Planner for the a small firm that works primar...Expand for more
ily in the DoD and GSA arena. It's completely different than anything I have ever done before so its quite a challenge. After so many years of working for small firms and feeling like I was always struggling to make ends meet, my career has finally come to the point where I truly feel as if I'm being compensated well for all my knowledge and experience.
As far as the future holds, I recently graduated (again) with a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership at Chapman University (I also graduated from there with my Bachelors). I've decided that I will probably go after my Ph.D. so that I'll be able to do something else with my life after I get good and tired of working in Land Development. I've also gotten really serious about taking care of myself physically and as of right now, I'm not quite where I'd like to be (again/still) but hopefully by the reunion in September, I'll be back down to fighting weight (or is that Hockey Playing/speed skating weight) and close to the best shape of my adult life. It is my goal to have my health, weight, and fitness level are comparable to my early 20's.
Like everyone else, I hope to hear from some old friends, especially the old crew from Sunnydale (who can forget chorale reading and Mrs. Peguess), Park View Jr. High, and QHHS.
Even if you think I might not remember you, drop me a line anyways. You never know what kind of memories you can bring forward just by hearing someones name, or retelling an old story.
