Kim's Story

Catch 'em up on what you've done and who you are.I have been a single parent now for about 7 years. I have found that from being on my own I have become a very strong and vital independent woman. I enjoy going out when I can. I take care of my 16yr old I am a band parent. I cook and clean, I handle everything at home. I do crafts, summer time we go on picinics and camping, and swimming and waterparks and amusement parks. I have been driving school bus for over 15 years. I have no grand children I did have two foster grand sons but they went back to their parents sometime in Mayof 2008 I have gone to Penn State , and CCAC which is a community college I have an associates degree in business. I have seen a lot and done a lot. But nothing compares to coming home to Maine and visit people are laid back at home compared to here. I guess you could say that you can bring a woman to the city but you can't take the country out the woman. The way I was when I was in school I am not that same person. I am totally different I have changed for the better. I have some people tell me that sometimes I tell things the way they are a little to strong and people don't like it I feel if you don't like it than lump it. I am a very caring person I try to help whoever is in need. As they always say what ever you give or do you get back in ten fold. I can love the same way but cross me and I never trust you again, or come near you ever again. I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a stupid idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I like to come home and take a shower and just sit for about 1/2 hour with a glass of home made lemonade or ice water If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have money to get there, a mode of transportation, and paticene to be able to deal with the day-to-day. my hero was my dad he taught me how to have values and morals and he made sure that I was in church every sunday and wednesday, and Thursdays my dad made sure I wasn't hanging on a street corner and he made sure that I made something out of myself and he always told me don't listen to what other people think because their the ones who won't get far in life I have learned a lot from being a parent because each one of my children have their own personlity and uqinic ways about them I see that sometimes their not willing to take my advise and they end up learning the hard way and I have also learned that I have given them a pretty good li...Expand for more
fe so that they can be on their own and they have devloped their own way of handling life and how to cope with in it I have never lived on campus my oldest lived on campus I don't know if I would want to seeing some of the things that go on in campus dorm rooms My current age is 50. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be still able to do some of the things we were able to do back than. I was so completely surprised when I realized that I can't do some of those things anymore. My best friend would tell you I'm out going willing to help anyone in need and fun to be around and that I love to have a good time , but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as would say that I am snobby and I don't talk to them and won't get close and that I am stupid and I don't care about no one. I don't dress anything like I did when I was in school I do dress up on occassion I dress according to style and I do try to look real good I share my home with my 16yr old daughter , which I find at times very noisy. In 10 years, I hope to be still going and doing things andbeing happy. I'm going to get there by eating right and doing a lot of walking and doing it gracefully. my oldest friend christine sperrey I met her at church when we were children and we grew up together and when she graduated before me I don't know what happened to her I would love to see her again My first job was at working for Jim Clark on the potato harvester, where I got paid 4.00 hr to work from 5am to 10pm with just 1/2 hr lunch and 2 15minute breaks. What I remember most about it is the colc wet weather and convair belts with the big rocks and bouncing around and the big bull moose that came and charged the harvester and jim and my dad and mr clark came out while jim was trying to shoot the animal what a scare that was. I will never forget when Merleen and SherleenCorey andRayline died in a christmas fire and the whole family barely got out a live I will never forget that The important thing in my life now is that of my daughter Maria to whom is border line autisic and asbergers through the next 2 1/2 years of school and graduated and that I am able to go home to see my mother I miss my mom she is very important to me I haven't had time to really date anyone nor would I try because of my daughter I don't think that no man would stay with a woman who has a child with disabilities. Therefore I work and pay bills and go out with my friends when I can
