Kim's Story

Update July 2010. I went to work for The Partnership for Drug Free America, AZ Affiliate. I am enjoying this meaningful work and hope to help educate parents on how to keep their kids healthy and drug-free. Life could not be better! I adore my husband Jeff - he is the finest human being I've ever met! My daughter Sarah is a fantastic mother to my beautiful granddaughter Bella! My son-in-law Zack is the best son-in-law a MIL (mother-in-law) could hope for! He is an excellent husband and father. God is so good! After high school I went to SAC for a couple of years with the intention of getting a BA in marketing. I was working while going to school and happened to be in the right place at the right time in the "computer" industry. A career in marketing took off and I've worked ever since! I married in 1980 and had a daughter in 1982 and a son in 1985. Unfortunately the marriage didn't last and I became a single parent. I've lived in La Canada Flintridge, San Clemente, Boston, and Scottsdale. My daughter is married and expecting a little girl mid February 2009. Her husband Zack is a great son in law. I currently work for a real estate development company: MC Companies. On...Expand for more
e of the principals is Ken McElroy, author of Rich Dad's The ABC's of Real Estate Investing. Ken is the real estate advisor to Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. I've been happily married since November 0f 2001. Sadly, my son died in September of 2003, when he was 18 1/2. I am a spokesperson for The Partnership for a Drug Free America. You can't post websites on this space, but you can find out more at Partner Up AZ (no spaces) Org. If you would like to read articles or view TV interviews I've done, just google Kim Obert and look for Rx drug related info. Or you can leave me a message at Facebook, here or on LinkedIn. I never really understood the need to take drugs - I don't like to be out of control. My son was a thrill-seeker. he loved roller coasters, snowboarding, skiing, water skiing, anything on the "edge". At 18 1/2 he was in his second year of college and worked for a high tech company as an on-line support tech. Unfortunately he made a bad decision to take some OxyCotin one evening and he never woke up. I don't believe I will ever get over the feeling of sadness and loss. Please contact me if I can be of assistance regarding drug abuse or grief counseling.
