Kim's Story

Life Hello, When I used to live in Cumberland I was quite involve in hockey and as of today, life as not changed in that department, actually we can say it has got busier - I am now with ODMHA. I did complete 25 years of refereeing and 18 years of coaching. No longer refereeing but still coaching hockey. I left the Navan and Cumberland area in 1985 with my husband Gary Vaillancourt from Navan and moved to Arnprior. A few years later we went our sepatate ways. Gary had joined the Army and it was a life I did not want and I stayed here in Arnprior. Gary has since passed away spring of 2000 - he was a great person. I met Donnie Belton - he was the referee-in-chief of Arnprior. We soon start dating and then moved in together. He has 2 children - they are now 29 and 31 and together we have a beautiful 14 year daughter - Karla - and quite an athelete like her mother. I ha...Expand for more
ve not visited the Cumberland and Navan area much at all over the last 20 years, but recently (the last 2 years) you can catch me at the Navan Arena from time to time watching the Barons - Minor and Major Bantam AA and Minor Bantam A are the teams that I look after for ODMHA. I still keep in touch with my dear friends Joyce and Roger Newman from Cumberland - they are the family that took me in when my family moved to Apsley when I was only 17 years old. Life is fantastic - enjoying every minute I can and still hyper as always if not worse over the years. I often think of my friends back home especially the ones that meant a lot to me in the past. Since I spend most of my time in arenas in the Ottawa District lately, I do run to people from my past from time to time and it is so good to talk about the past "Cumberland & Navan". From the Ottawa Valley - Arnprior CHEERS !
