Kimberly's Story
Life
I'm still stuck in TN. I am pretty much the same "nice" person I was in HS both in Perryville and Murfreesboro--my social skills are still a nightmare, but I have a lot of good friends. I value those relationships, as well as those with my family. I managed to fall in love and get married all in 2002 with a man from Los Angeles. Imagine that! I have no children yet, but we both look forward to starting a family very soon.
We just moved into a small cottage-like home with trees and a lake nearby in Coffee County. It is a gift from God. Our dogs love the big yard and enjoy eating the acorns that fall to the ground.
I have become a big Star Wars fan because of my husband. (Thanks Dan, I am a geek now!) I think I am in love with Hayden Christensen...LOL! I never saw any of the Star Wars movies until the last prequel came out in 2005 and I decided that if I was going to see it in the theater, I would see the movies in order, Episodes, I-VI. So that is what I did. I was hooked by the end of Episode II, when Padme and Anakin said "I do." Now I am reading the books. Yes, I am reading something other than Metal Edge magazines. (I mean let's face it, Metal Edge SUCKS these days, anyway!)
The most important thing in my life is my relationship with Christ. Going through mood swings and times of unhappiness because of my bipolar made me uncertain of so many things in my life. It seemed everything was relative. But God stayed the same no matter what. And he saw me through. I am strong and I can help so many people because of what I have been through. I appreciate happiness and clarity so much and my walk with Jesus is closer now. Life is good.
School
School was sometimes a good time for me, and sometimes I hated it. I was extremely shy, so I became the object of some of my classmate...Expand for more
s' teasing and taunting when I was very young. It was my own fault at times because I made myself an easy target, but still, kids are cruel. If they had gotten to know me, they would have gotten to know a nice person who was a good friend and someone who was honest.
In middle school, I befriended Beverly Hall, someone else who was ridiculed. We became close friends for a long time, until I had to leave Maryland for Tennessee. My other close friends were Melanie Moore and Christina Vann. I had to leave Maryland for the first time for a few months in my ninth grade year and when I returned, I came back to Perryville High and met Megan Benjamin. She was such a sweetheart. I was so glad that I got to know her. Other great friends were Mike Ingerson, Chris Kincaid, Andy Trimble and Mindy Hutchens.
I was broken-hearted to have to leave MD in 1992. I am still homesick! But I met a lot of great people at Riverdale High as well.
Going from a school of around 500 students to a school of over 2000 was an experience for me. The only person in the school I knew was my sister Stephanie! But I made some good friends and even found a boyfriend. But the boyfriend was short-lived. I was so blessed to find people like Vicki Fischer, Jon Croney, Sandy Story, Alyssa Brandon and many others.
One of the biggest heartbreaks of my life happened when Earline Brown was murdered. This happened while I was in Tennessee (for the first time) in 1990. I consider myself lucky to have been her friend. It is so sad that her life was snuffed out at such a young age, 13. She was destined to go so far in life and she was a blessing to everyone around her, including me.
And in case anyone who knows me is wondering, YES, I still LOVE Def Leppard and I am also a HUGE Eric Carr-era KISS fan. Some things NEVER change!!
