Kimberly Haymaker:

CLASS OF 1982

Kimberly's Story

School I loved going to Stew-Stras! The most fun things were going to the basketball games, especially the away games, singing "We Are the Champions" & "Another One Bites the Dust" on the bus ride home. Does anyone remember the Class of 82's junior class party at Shirley Reed's land out in the woods? We got so trashed! Lisa Haarman walked thru the fire barefoot, Ed Baumgarten had the vodka, I thought I was just so drunk I couldn't see until Mark Schultz came up and poked his fingers in both my eyes and said, "You lost your eyeballs!" My glasses lenses had both fallen out!!! Remember sitting on the stage (or necking in back of it) at lunch? I think the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me was losing a note that I had written with some very personal stuff in it, then having someone find it and put it in the trophy case! Oh, and I can't forget writing in my English journal about my supercrush on John Clairess and Mike Schick. One day I was in the lunch line and someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and it was Mike Schick holding out my journal. "I think you must have forgotten this in class," was all he said with a big smile while John Clairess stood behind him grinning. ...Expand for more
College I attended Southwestern Illinois College in Granite City for 3 years. My major was Liberal Arts. Ended up dropping out during Operation Desert Storm cuz I couldn't drag myself away from the TV (Little Brother Tim was over there). I also attended Venice-Lincoln Technical Center and completed there Clerical Program. Sure hasn't helped me find a job in that field, though. Workplace Right now I'm working at a distributorship as an order builder. We carry everything you find in a convenience store, and that's who we service. We deliver to all the Mach I Food Stores in Effingham, T-Town, Vandalia, Olney, Habbe Wholesale, etc. Would like to find a new job in an office, but can't really find the time to look really hard. Military Well, I wasn't in the military, but I was an Army wife. It was really exciting to leave Strasburg to go to El Paso with Tom, but if I'd only known how it would turn out.... It was a miserable experience being married to him, but I did get my kids from him, so I probably wouldn't do anything differently. But I would have been just as much of a jerk to him as he was to me. I can't believe how stupid I was to think that that was love!!!! Oh well, you live, you learn!
