Kimberly's Story
Life
I have just been appointed as the Learning Resource Director of the Canberra Montessori School, in Canberra, ACT, Australia. I had been working there Part-time at my kids school as the Special Needs Resource Director. I have completing my Montessori International Teaching Certificate. My upgrade to the International Diploma will be complete by the end of 2008. In 2009 I will pursuing my PhD in Education and Montessori Adolescent Teaching certification.
Both of my children attend the Montessori school, so it has been so nice way to go back to work.
My son Noah born in 2000 and is mad cricket playing Aussie boy. My daughter Savannah born in 2002,and is a girl's girl and force of nature!
Previously, I had been teaching for about 10 years. I am high school Special Education teacher, working with Behaviour Modification and "at-risk"/street kids.
I have been living in Australia since 1996 and now I am dual citizen of the US and Australia. We absolutely love it, except for the summer at Christmas... it's more like the 4th of July. My husband Steve an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance and Applied Statistics, at the Australian National University, in Canberra.
We get home when we can and I always try to catch up with who ever is in town. But over visits are split between San Antonio, TX where his folks live, Mississippi where my Dad has retired and Asheville where my Mom and Grandmother still live.

. Keeling. I was student, played basketball, ran track and play field hockey as a Senior. I was the Cougar for Football season our Senior year and was a cheerleader for the Varsity Boys Basketball Team, when finished playing in the girls games. I was in a few clubs, class representative, helped with Special Olympics and helped out with childcare kids before schools. I won several sports awards and was voted Most Athletic with Kenzel King as a Senior. Though for me my personal favorite achievements where being Nominated to Who's Who of American Art Studnets, receiving an English Literature and Dance Performace Awards. However, any of you who new me(new my dad) he pushed the sports thing really hard.
College
I attended Anderson Junior College as a "red shirt" walk-on for the Women's Basketball Team from Jan 1986-1988.
I came back to Asheville, where I worked full-time one semester and then went to UNCA for two semesters. I transfered to the University of Southern Mississippi where I graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and History.
I went on to complete my Master's Degree in Political Science and International Relations in 1995. I challenged the NTE and became a teacher. I then attended the University of Canberra, ACT, Australia, where I completed a Graduate Diploma (i.e. Master's of Teaching Arts) in Special Education 1997.
I began a Montessori International Teaching Diploma in 2004 and I am will graduate in 2008.
I hope to begin a PhD in Applied Educational Theory in 2009.
