Kimberly's Story
Life
After 7 years in Virginia Beach, I have returned to Maine to face cold winters again!!! After High School, I went to UNE for 2 years then transferred to Lasell College in Boston. I have an AS in Physical Therapy and spent 7 years working my butt off in a salaried position in Virginia. Had some great experiences, even did some volunteer medical staff at the 2002 Karate Do Nationals and Olympic Trials!
After getting tired of extremely hot summers and no snow Christmas' I returned to Maine in 2002. I worked in Lewiston for a while, then got a job as a rehab manager in a small nursing home in Topsham. I get to still do patient care which is why I went into PT in the first place, but I get the satisfaction of running a sucessful department too!
My son is in 3rd Grade. I am the PTO secretary, volunteer at school, volunteered as a Baseball Coach last spring, and work full time, AND manage to be a single mom in the process. PHEW! I wouldn't trade any of it for the world, I love my job and I love my son, and he is worth every second of my life! I am so grateful my parent's are available for the times when I need to perform the most important volunteering I do and that is the 3 day walk for Breast Cancer. Thanks to them, I am able to change lives and make a difference in the fight against Breast Cancer.

tick it out. My roommate Abby was the bomb I couldn't have asked for a better roommate. So not knowing what I really wanted to do and doubting if I still wanted to do the whole dual role of PT and Athletic Trainer I took a semester off and did some sole searching! And that brought me to Lasell College. I couldn't have picked a better school for me. Meeting Lisa and Carrie in Woodland Hall, Becoming an RA in Gardner House with my infamous QUAD friends--Sonia, Vicki, Jenn and Kristi! And my Va beach road trip buddies--Amy, Keri, Marsha--Glad we lived through that :-). And then also being the manager in the 1851, loved those 4 drink MAX nights ;-)! Sad to say I've lost touch with most of my college friends, but you are still on my mind!
Workplace
Physiotherapy Associates was a building block for me as a new grad. Being initially in a contract for a hospital I was able to be exposed to Inpatient, Skilled Nursing Outpatient and Home Health. It helped make me a better all around therapist.
Of course being a work-a-holic one job wasn't enough, so Thursday through Saturday nights I worked as a bouncer in a nightclub. Whoever said my high school years as the manager for the wrestling team wouldn't pay off???
But becoming a mom changes your work-a-holic mode just a bit, so coming home to Maine, living close to work, and only having one job has been really fun. Although can any working mom really say she only has one job?
