Kimi's Story
Life
Let's see...my bio...well, I'm still the class clown. The only difference is that I've traded the classroom for my office. To top it off, I married another class clown. Lord, help us! Seriously though, I'm enjoying life right now. My children and my hubbie are happy and healthy. I'm traveling quite a bit for pleasure. Trying to keep a year round tan (and yes, I use sunscreen because I might be a sistah, but the melanin does not run deep). In any case, when I figure out how to download these pictures into my bio, I'll update that.
By the way, I've just lost about 50 pounds (and for those of you who have seen me in the last two years, how come nobody told me I was fat?), so I'm really enjoying shopping again which used to be a passion but fell by the wasteside once the size on the clothes that I was buying said 14 (and then 16 and then 18...really, what was I thinking?). I'm still short (5'3" with shoes on) with little feet so I'm supposed to be petite right? In any case, I'm totally busy with my kids.
I got suckpunched last month because somehow, I became the cheerleading coach for my daughter's team. How did that happen? One day, I'm dropping her off and the next day, I'm teaching cheers. It's cool though, because it keeps me busy and away from the fridge.
I still talk to my best friend, Tiffany Jackson almost every day. 30 years of friendship and counting!!!!!
I pledged AKA and I'm very active in the greek life. For those of you that don't know, black greeks are greeks for life and we are often active until the day we die. So, that's been great for me because it allows me to give back and help out the community. We feed and clothe the poor and it sure makes me feel good.
I'm relatively the same since high school. I look the same except I let my hair go dark again. I weigh about the same...Expand for more
(now). I'm still crazy. Wayyyyyyyyyyyy less materialistic since high school since mom/dad was footing that bill and I gotta take care of it now. (How does that happen and am I too old to ask for an allowance again?) In any case, I'm still true to some material things because you know I'm driving yet another Benz. However, the clothing shopping has left the mall (unless it is an outlet) and gone to the discount stores. Nordstrom Rack is good enough for me.
I married my very best friend (and he's fine to boot). He is a teacher with Chicago Public Schools (Lord help him) which is great for the benefits. His flexible schedule and me being self employed allow us to travel like we've lost our minds. We actually started a travel club and you may see us from time to time in the airport. So, if you see the Sky Whores Travel Club, that's us. I named it. I figured, we're all whores for something. My vice is traveling. I've been on at least 10 trips this year in celebration for my 35th year on this earth. We plan our year and then we just go. Thank God for Grandma and Grandpa and the other Grandma and the other Grandpa.
My son is quite the scholar and baseball player (just like his dad...now you know I got a thing for jocks). His team won the Bishops Cup (championship trophy for a Christian league) and he has made the honor roll every quarter since he started first grade. He's in the third grade now (and how does that happen since he was just in diapers last week?) and my daughter is in kindergarten.
Ironically, they go to the same elementary school that I went to. How funny is that? Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! She's learning to read (which I know I didn't know how to do until at least 1st grade) and she's actually got homework every night.
Ok, I guess I'll go now. I'd love to hear from anyone.
