Kirk's Story
Life
After graduating in 1970 I joined a Fortune 100 company and moved my way up through the ranks into upper management. I retired in 1995 and instead of vegetating decided to go back and get my college degree. I completed 4 years of work in 2, acquiring degrees in Economics and Geography. Wasn't such a hard thing to do after averaging 70-80 hours a week over the previous 25 years.
I moved out of the Kalamazoo area in 1973 when I was transfered to Dallas. From there I lived and worked in Houston, Cleveland, San Francisco and New York City. When I retired in 1995 I settled...Expand for more
in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. I moved back to the Kalamazoo area in 1999 to be closer to family as both my parents were suffering from poor health. My father passed away last year after battling lung cancer for several years.
I am now doing some consulting work for several major companies here in Michigan. We re-built and are now living in my parents old house on Austin Lake in Portage and have one daughter in college, with another finishing up her Junior year at Portage Central. That was a hard one to swallow, but at least it's Portage Schools.
