Kirsten's Story
Life
After skipping grade 11 due to the closure of Wilson, I graduated from Mankato East. I then got a Degree in Agriculture from the University of Minnesota. I have worked as an extension agent. a florist and as an optician. My ex-husband and I owned and operated a greenhouse nursery business, Great River Gardens in Aitkin, MN. I am currently just completing 18 years of teaching 2 classes of students from K through grade 8 (twice!) at the Minnesota Waldorf School in Maplewood, MN. I am considering my next phase that begins after next spring when my current class graduates. I have three beautiful daughters ages 26, 23, and 19. I live in Roseville, MN . I would love to get together and talk about Wilson and about life.
College
After graduation I moved to Aitkin County with my spouse, Joe Riehle. I worked as a florist and then as an extension educator. We have three daughters born in 1985, 88 and 92. I went back to school at the Anoka Voc. Tech to become an optician and ...Expand for more
worked briefly in that field. Joe and I developed a greenhouse nursery business, Great River Gardens, and ran it together until 1991 when he was in a major car accident. While he has recovered physically, his head injury and the trauma of the event caused me to change the course of my life. We finally divorced in the spring of 2009. I am now, and have been for the past 18 years, a teacher at the Minnesota Waldorf School and live in a small house in Roseville MN. Joe still runs the business in Aitkin and we are both content in our very busy, but separate lives. Our oldest daughter is married and lives in Roseville, the second is finishing her college degree and while interning is living with her sister in Roseville as well. The youngest just graduated from high school and is volunteerring in Europe before heading off to college. I would particularly enjoy visiting with any of the folk who lived at the Minnesota Student's Housing Cooperative during the time Joe and I were there.
