I know most people in High school thought I was a total geek, or a weirdo, and rightfully so. It wasn't a secret that I always went to a beat of my own drum and that I would do things just to get a reaction from people. At times I was easily distracted and other times things just whizzed over my head - at least that's what most people would say about me. The fact is, I really did know what was going on and studied other people's behaviors, body language and facial expressions. I knew I didn't fit in with the IN crowd and wasn't terribly upset by it either because it never felt right to pretend to be something I wasn't. Little did any of us know that dyslexia and ADHD were common, much less that so many of us probably never knew we fit the profiles with symptoms that match the criteria for the differences. What a relief to finally know I wasn't a total spaze on purpose, that an explanation was available.
