Krista's Story
Life
Find me on Facebook or e-mail me at ellisbrats5 at live dot com. After high school, I started a family right away. My husband and I got married in November 1996 and we moved to the Midwest in January 1997. I have three children, Ashleigh, Kenneth (Kenny), and Jayna. I've pretty much been a stay at home mom only working or going to school for something to break up my day, and it's finally paying off. I'm graduating with my Associated in Applied Science degree this May 2012. As a family, we love to spend a lot of time together doing lots of stuff like...taking walks on the trails in the parks, going to the movies, playing board games, taking road trips, making up silly games, coming up with things to go around the table to talk about during dinner....we just like to have fun together.
School
I wouldn't do it again if you paid me all the money in world! What people don't understand is that my brother and I were abused and neglected from the time we were born until the time we could do whatever it took to get out of that hell hole of a home, which half the time was a motel room on Beach Blvd because all our money was spent on my mom's boyfriend's drugs. And when we'd go to school to escape the abuse at home, we'd get bullied at school by people who t...Expand for more
hought they were better than us because they didn't have that bright pink free lunch card, or they had name brand clothes, or the best hair, and so on. Well, I choose to break the cycle. I teach my kids to think about what might be going on with the kid at home. There's a boy at my daughter's school that picks on her, and instead of her calling him a freak and putting a black mark on him, I simply tell her maybe he gets picked on at home. I teach my kids tolerance, and I hope you all are, too. Maybe the world would be a lot kinder if you did.
College
In the summer of 2005, I began attending classes at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. We were transferred to Central Kentucky for my husband's job. Next month, May 2012, I will graduate with my Associates in Applied Science degree. It's about that time to put kids through college so I may wait until I continue with my bachelor's degree.
Workplace
I had my family first and spent the last 15 years raising my children and doing whatever I could in my spare time, like odd jobs and volunteering, while my husband worked. It's actually nice to be able to home for my children, but I know one day they will leave and I won't have anything to keep me busy so I better hurry up and get done with school.
