Kristi's Story
Life
Life story, hmmm??? I moved to Knoxville the day after high school graduation. I went to UT, and graduated with a BA in Human Services in 1991. In 1988, I worked as a summer missionary for the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board, in Castle Rock, Colorado. I love it, and that was when I decided to change my
major to Human Services. I felt that working with people was God's call for me. In 1996, I quit my job and had plans to go to grad school. I was accepted into the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, on full scholarship. About 4 weeks before I was to go, I was working at Knox County's Baptist Youth Camp. I fell and broke my tibia and fibula, and cracked the ankle joint. That left me non-weight bearing, and with lots of metal for 3 months. That was in July and I was able to walk on my own again in late November. I obviously postponed school. In January, I went to Louisville and it just didn't feel right. So I came home. After the 3rd surgery on my leg, I began my career as a case manager. I have been working in this field since 1997. Currently I am with Child Protective Services. ck to school, but am so busy with work, vacation, family, and church, that I really don't see the time. My nephews live in Florida and I see them every summer, for the whole summer! And I visit there pretty often too. And now there is a nephew here. I love to hear him call me, "my Aunt Kristi". And since my Grandmother died in 1999, she was my mom that raised me....I have taken on the responsibility of my Aunt. So family is definitely a factor. But I guess one of the biggest changes, especially for those who knew me and knew how active I was in church....is that I converted to Catholicism. Yep, I'm full fledged Catholic. And again involved in teaching at church. Let's see, I'm still unfortunately single. The old joke used to be, date me and your next date will become your spouse! It's true, don't laugh! And now, well......my date to the senior prom is a real estate agent/car saleman last time I checked, and the one to the junior prom is now in law school. Then the one I went to the Tennessee High prom with, I'm sure he's, well, we won't talk about that. So thats life. Really, its work, work, work.....but I work for vacation.
