My Job
I joined the US Navy right out of high school. I joined not really out of a sense of patriotism to be totally truthful, but rather as a means to get away from a dismal existance I was facing had I stayed in Minnesota.
After my time in the Navy, I floated around from one place to another. I moved to Indiana after my divorce, in the beginning I spent some time working for the US Army. Then I went on to get a job with the State of Indiana as a Disabled Veterans Employment Outreach Specialist. This was the begining.
I hold a Bachelors in Social Work BSW from IU School of Social Work, a Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Stout and I am currently back in graduate school again for a Masters Social Work from Indiana University.
I have lost a lot of weight in the past couple of years, many may not recognize me. 500 lbs. (120 lbs of ugly fat, 380 lbs of ugly loser: ex-husband, and his mother)

School
For 5 years I attended a private christian school, but I am not baptist. actually I am catholic and very happy where I am religiously. I almost became a nun then I met my ex-husband. My parents sent me to the private school because they thought the students there would be nicer, and not as cliquish, boy were they wrong; not much difference between a christian school and a public school. I had more fun and better grades when I transferred to a public school for my senior year.
College
I graduated from IUPUI in 2005 (with a GPA of 3.45) - Indiana University - IU School of Social Work, with my BSW - Bachelors Social Work. I gradated from the University of Wisconsin - Stout with an MS in Vocationa...Expand for more
l Rehabilitation and now I am back to IU, in the MSW Program (Masters Social Work). Boy once its all done, there will be a lot of letters after my name.
And to think, that there were teachers, and peers back in high school. who said I was too stupid to go to on to college.
Workplace
In 2010 I resigned from the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, where I was the State Service Officer and I am also the State Women Veterans Coordinator. I am very excited about this great opportunity to continue to serve veterans especially women veterans. I was previously employed by the State of Indiana as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist. I worked with veterans to help them prepare for seeking employment. I loved my job as that it gave me the opportunity to help veterans, while the job does paid low, the job satisfaction was great. I loved what I was doing.
Military
I joined the US Navy right out of high school. While I may not have been one of the best sailors, I did work very hard. I have many fond memories of my time in the Navy. I have no regrets.
But a message to a certain petty officer and a master chief who said that I would fail, you were all wrong.
I always wanted to be a biologist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a strange idea. As it turns out, they were neither right nor wrong.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the my bathrooms and add on a larger closet. My dream home would be one that has a spa bath tub.
I aspire to work in Washington DC some day.
I share my home with 4 dogs, 2 cats and my husband David, which I find crowded.
I won a Torchbearer Award, Indiana's highest award given to women.
My first job was at Valley Fair, where I got paid $4.25 to work in the Petting Zoo. What I remember most about it is getting run over by 20 baby goats.
