Kris's Story

To catch you all up on what's been going on..... Well, I lived in Denver for quite some time, tried Seattle, Chicago, and now Utah. Loved Seattle, it is so green. Loved the rain, the seafood, the people and the music. Played Bass Guitar in a Rock and Roll band. Loved the grunge movement. Chicago, yuck. Too cold and windy, and the people were not very nice. Got out of there as soon as I could. A little known fact about me... during my time in the school system, that being elementary through High, I had learned to play over 21 instruments. Most in the Junior High time. I also had a scholarship to play basketball at the Loretta Heights College, that was when it was an all girls college. Imagine that, me at an all girls college. Well, neadless to say, I chose not to go there and went instead into the music and psychology department at Metro State. I didn't know what I wanted to do, so I farted around with electives. Saw lots of friends from high school. Dated off and on, mostly to a guy named Dino who went to school in the Denver area. I was common law married to my daughter's father, Bryan. He was abusive, so I got out of that as soon as I could. I hope that most of you have not had to endure that torment. It has a way of breaking your soul. I was working for Xerox in downtown Denver, when an old classmate, Chris Doyle '84, looked me up. He was flying into town the next day so we went to dinner and talked about all the silly, and stupid, things we had done as kids. We also talked about all our old friends and all the stupid things they did. Seems they did more. Ha! Chris and I started dating and have been together ever since. He has two kids from a previous marriage, I have one, and now we have one together. Wahoo! Blended. We decided to move to Utah, as we had an awesome opportunity to buy a house that we absolutely loved. I miss Denver, miss the night life, miss my friends and family, and miss the sunny days. I think we are here to...Expand for more
stay, we love it here, live on "the shelf" and have the mountains right out our front door. Trouble is they're on the East not the West. I was so disoriented for what seemed like forever, Now, when I go back to Denver, I'm all confused again. It's worth it. My daughter plays for LaRoca, an Elite soccer team. I still have fond memories of Northglenn Thunder, the Elite team I played on in Junior High, taking first in State, so it's nice to see her developing her skills and enjoying it as much as I did. She also has a natural aptitude toward thinking games and does very well in chess, winning in competitions. It's easy to brag about your kids, cause your life revolves around them. My son is starting T-ball this year. What a cutie. He won the local Hiawain Tropic Beauty Pagent in 2006. The darn trophy was bigger then him. He is totally into Spiderman, The Fantastic Four, Transformers and girls. He is a total flirt, and has girls wrapped around his little finger everywhere he goes. Doesn't matter their age, they just seem to love him. He's always getting candy from little old ladies and kisses from the younger ones. He's only four!!!!!!!! What is a mom to do. There is something to be said about living in the foothills. In Thornton, they were hours away, here, Snowbasin is a half an hour drive from my doorstep. The animals and the smells make the outdoors worth experiencing. Don't get me wrong, I am not a total earth muffin, (try asking someone out here what that is. They have no clue) but I do enjoy the fresh air, the hummingbirds, watching a quail family cross the street, hearing of neighbors having mountain lions in their garage and seeing the cloads climb over the mountains. So... that's what I have been up to. Kids and running amuck, you know me :). Miss you all and wish you were here skiing and/or grilling with me. I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful man as a husband, a loving family to care for and friends all over the world.
