2009 I got laid off on Valentines Day 2009. Or "ripped off" as my son said. I get why it happened but it wasn't a fun experience and I went through a whole gammet of emotions. But as luck would have it, I found another job two weeks later, through a friend. Turns out it was the perfect job for me, and I worked out a deal where I can leave in time to pick up my kids from school. I am now working as a controller (accountant) for a DME software company. I knew about the business when I started there but I've learned a lot since. It's great to be in an industry that is doing okay. (medical field) My oldest son is starting high school this fall, I have another in middle school and the youngest is in elementary school. Time sure has flown by. Updates 2008 Going back to school proved to be a very wise decision. I am now working as a staff accountant for a management company. I LOVE my job, my boss and my co-workers. My boss depends heavily on me, and he seems to really respect my opinions and thoughts about how to make things work better. I've been deeply involved in a clean up project since I started in Feb. and I'm finally closing out 2007 for my final store, which makes me very happy. I can hardly wait to be working on current financials. I will also be getting a promotion with more responsibility, which I'm not sure I'm ready for, but I look forward to learning more about the company and how to make it all flow, at least on the financial side anyway.
