Kyle's Story

Life Currently I'm in Iraq fighting in a deadly war that I don't want to be in. If I could change many things about my life, I would. The military for one of them. After high school I left for basic at Fort Benning, GA. After my ten weeks at basic I PCS'd to Fort Gordon where I recieved training in my MOS (31F (Now 25F)) Network Switching Systems Operator. This is where I found out that my recruiter lied to me and got me a job I wasn't asking for. I was looking for computers and networking and ended up with 80's style telephonic switches. After my training for Common Core I was for Echelon Below Core equiptment. Feb of 05 I PCS'd to Fort Hood where I began my first duty station with C. Co. 404 ASB. This was a brand new company and I stood it up as the guidon bearer. Being the "High Speed"...Expand for more
soldier that I am I was put into class for a new communication system. Finally I'm kind of doing what I enlisted for. Up-to-date technology; Internet, VoIP, and POTS systems. After I sucessfully graduated my class I married my high school sweetheart Jessica Downs. Nov 05 I Left Fort Hood for this dreadful place called Iraq. This is where I begin my extreme hate for the military. Being so far away from family, Combat Stress and our company tearing itself apart are just a few problems i've been encountering. I feel i'm to smart for this job and I had it good when I lived in WPB. 20 months of hardwork and dedication so far, 28 months left in active service and 76 months until i'm completely out of the military. The countdown began long ago. I'm not the same person I used to be, I miss myself.
