La'wana's Story
Life
I have been married for 33 years. We have two grown daughters that are living in the Washington, DC area. Our youngest daughter is married and we now have one granddaughter and a grandson on the way! Our oldest daughter has not been married but we think has found "the one". My husband is a grad from NC State and his job has moved us in and around North Carolina and Virginia. This past November he took a job that took us around the world. We are now living in Cebu, Philippines! We sold our house in Lexington, NC had two large yard sales, packed what we could bring and stored the rest. We are living in a beautiful house in the middle of a rain forest. It is a third world country and we do see so much proverty but we also live in a big city that has a population of around 3...Expand for more
million. We can get pretty much what we can in the States if you are willing to pay the price. What we have enjoyed about living here is the traveling. The Philippines is made up of over 7 thousand islands. We live on one of the largest. We have traveled on the islands here but we have also been to China and Hong Kong so far. This Christmas we are going to Purket, Thiland with friends that live in China. This all seems like a dream sometimes and I am enjoying every minute. I noticed that some of you wrote that your dream vacation is going to a tropical island with a cold drink in hand, well I get to do that often here. I have retired so I do feel like I am on vacation everyday. We will be here for about 6 years and then we want to go back to the States to enjoy our retirement.
