LaRica's Story
Life
April, 2005
I am married to a wonderful man named John Krischel who I met my junior year of college at Oklahoma Christian University. We have lived in a couple of apartments and 1 rent house in Oklahoma City until April of 2002 when we bought a 2-story house in Edmond. We love it there. We will be married for 11 years this June of 2005. We now have a child. Her name is Audra Liat, born on June 24th, (Audra is my middle name and Liat comes from the Broadway Musical "South Pacific") We are both very excited and I am very nervous due to I was not ever going to have children, I was going to adopt them all. My federal grant program ended at Eagle Ridge Instititute and I now work for a DHS funded program at Rose State College. It is called EmPower Works. I teach employability skills to displaced mothers who are trying to get back into the workforce. Last year this program was a pilate program. It was the only one in the state of Oklahoma. ow we have people coming to us all the time to consult us on how we made it a success. It is an honor to have that kind of responsibility. I will be coming back to work after the baby is born. We will need the income and I enjoy this job. I think I have really found my calling. My husband is now working for The City of Oklahoma City. He is in the Public Works department and is partially responsible for making sure the engineers who design and re-design our roads and bridges have the funding they need to do the job. He is still in pursuit of a CIS job now that he has a Masters in CIS but has not quite been successful at finding one yet. At least he was able to get my brother, Terrell Sanders, on at the City. My brother needed that.
Our future plan is to sell our house in a few years and use that equity to buy an acreage in Montana where my husband is from. I want to be able to be in beautiful country and be able to enjoy it with owning enough land for some horses.
