Larry's Story
Life
Graduated UT in 1972 (BEd), 1975 (MA)
Taught HS 6 yrs.
Married in 1981. Still Married, same woman going on 28 years. We met on stage. Betsy is an opera signer.
Worked as Production Manager, Professional Theater 11 years.
Lived NYC, travelled all over the US on tour and lived in several cities while working Regional theatres.
That means I paid two rents when not in NYC!
We moved to Florida 1986
Started/Ran business 6 years.
Traveled/Worked in Europe & Africa for a few years.
Worked for IBM 10 years laid off 2005; Various IT and management jobs since
Hobbies include reading, Scuba, Golf, biking, hiking, tearing up the yard
I direct plays periodically
Perform with symphoic chorus (Master Chorale of Tampa ...Expand for more
Bay) and Florida Orchestra.
Have worked with Florida Aquarium and Mote Marine Laboratory (Sarasota) in marine mammal rescues (strandings) and animal rehabilitation.
Someday will write a great American novel and direct an production of some Puccini opera.
Currently organizing my third group tour to Kenya with AAZK affiliation (Am Assoc of Zookeepers).
Lookinging into travel writing/photography as a possible career shift.
School
AT MHS, I wan't much of a standout. I performed in plays, sang with the chorus, played baseball.
I really pissed off Cliff Conrad one year, skipping an athletic event for a dress rehearsal of a play. The asshole even mentioned it at the sports banquet. I hope he's been eaten by worms.
