Prof. Lawrence's Story
Professor Marsh began teaching at the University of Notre Dame in the Department of Economics in 1975. Recently he taught graduate courses at the University of Chicago. For about thirteen years he served as Director of Graduate Studies in Economics at Notre Dame. In thirty years of teaching statistics, econometrics, microeconomic theory and mathematical economics at Notre Dame he gave over three thousand lectures and served on eighty Ph.D. dissertation committees. For his teaching he won the James A. Burns award for excellence in graduate teaching in 1990-91 and was an O'Malley Award Nominee for undergraduate teaching in 1995-96. s selected as a Kaneb Faculty Teaching Fellow for excellence in teaching. He is currently Professor Emeritus (retired) at Notre Dame. His long time areas of specialization are econometrics and statistics. He has served as a guest editor of the Journal of Econometrics. His current research is in financial planning. His latest book "Spline Regression Models" can be found via Amazon.com. He has an article coming out this year in the journal Statistics in Medicine. He is working on a book regarding the role of productivity and the fluidity of labor in price inflation which discusses education, health studies, immigration and trade policy, et cetera.
