Military The high point of my 4 years in the United States Air Force was the year I spent at Thule Air Base in Greenland which is located 600 miles above the Arctic Circle. I was a weather observer and saw and documented a lot of amazing weather conditions that occured in the Arctic environment. During the Fall and Winter seasons the sun never rose above the horizon from the end of October to mid-February. Thule was and still is part of the D.E.W. line radar installations we had four radar screens each one was the size of a football field.
