Hard to believe it's coming 40 years since I bid adieu to St. Paul's.
Amazing times since then. Have managed to keep in touch with a few of the guys -- Jerome Schafer, Dennis Kalinocha and John Cherneski to name three.
Have been in Calgary for almost 30 years but do get back to Saskatoon at least four times a year -- for fishing trips up north and the like.
Actually joined classmates so I could let the gang know about what has happened to Jack Coggins and I will do that under the announcements.
Still learning just how this thing works -- so will say that I worked as a sports reporter/copy editor for almost 10 years at the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix before being offered a job at the Calgary Herald in 1977. Worked on the sports desk as a copy editor u...Expand for more
ntil 1999 when I was one of more than 100 editorial staff who went on strike against Conrad Black and the Herald.
That strike went on for almost nine months before it was settled and I took a buyout package. Did odd jobs until early 2004 when I was hired by the Business Edge, a business magazine that a couple of former Herald mates started in 2000.
It now publishes editions for British Columbia, Alberta (Edmonton/north and Calgary/south),Manitoba/Saskatchewan and Ontario.
Total change after 35 years in the sports end of the trade, but a good change and it doesn't hurt to be here in the redhot Calgary business community.
Have never been married, no kids that I know of and that's about it.
Hope to hear from some of the old gang here.
