Larry's Story
After high school, I attended Mississippi College for 2 years majoring in music. After that I transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, School of Radiologic Technology and graduated as an X-Ray Technologist. I world in that field for a little over 20 years and got burned out. I re-trained as a paralegal and worked for a large corporate law firm in Jackson, Mississippi for 10 years after which I was forced to retire due to health issues. Now I am active in my church and do some traveling.
I was married in 1984 but unfortunately, after 21 years of what I and our friends thought was the perfect marriage, we divorced. It was an odd ordeal. My wife and I both worked at the same law firm and our offices were next to each other. She came home from work one day and told me she thought she wanted a divorce. When I asked her why she simply said she didn't know but she...Expand for more
thought she wanted something different but wasn't sure what that was. Well, she decided that we should divorce and the rest is history. It was amicable. I saw no reason to make it hard and fight over stuff. We are still friends today. Thankfully we never had any children.
Five years ago, I converted to the Roman Catholic faith and that was the best decision I ever made. I love the Catholic faith and am happier than I have ever been. I have a faithful companion of the four legged variety who is the love of my life now, LOL. He travels with me and is the best friend I could hope to have.
Y'all likely remember my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Watkins who were both teachers at HLB. My daddy died in November 2011 from prostate and bone cancer. He was 84 years old. My mother is still with us, thankfully, and lives in Carthage, MS. She is in good health and the best mother in the world!
