Betty (Lateefah)'s Story
Workplace
After graduation from Morris Brown College, I landed my first teaching job at Capital View School in Atlanta, Ga. I worked in Atlanta for two and a half years. Left Atlanta headed for Middletown, Ohio. (Why? Heaven only knows, I guess I was 24 years old and crazy or adventurious)While in Middletown, Ohio I taught First grade and Kindergarten at W. H. Taft Elementary School and Lincoln Elementary School. After remaining in Middletown for 6 years, in 1978, I moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where I am presently teaching. I have taught, first grade at Bramble Elementary, Oakley Elementary and kindergarten at F. Dougla...Expand for more
ss Elementary and Hoffman Elementary Schools. In addition to teaching I am the Artistic Director of a West African drum and dance ensemble. I have been doing West African dance for almost 20 years. Our dance company performs in and around the Tri-state area, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. In 2000 our children's company was featured on the Jenny Jones Show.
Update 2011...........I am now retired waiting to see what my next career will be. Well. I retired in June and got re-hired in July. Still teaching kindergarten. Some days I wish I could sleep in, but I am still lovimg teaching, so I get up, and go on my merry way.
