Laura's Story
I left Houston in January of 1987 and moved to suburban MD, right outside of Washington, DC. I came with my parents who left 3 years later, but by then I had fallen into a job as well as into a relatonship. I worked for Safeway Stores for 17 years and left as a store manager. I moved to Lowe's as a store manager for 4 years where I got talked into moving to Chicago in January of 2007 (not very smart for those of you wondering what a real Chicago winter is like). ack home to my partner of 15 years, Ginger. We have a beautiful home located on the Chesapeake Bay, where one might find me having a beer or two along with eating Maryland Blue Crabs! I love our life together, and absolutely enjoy my job. I am a store manager with Home Depot in the Washington, DC market. I was somewhat of a misfit in high school; I didn't feel comfortable anywhere. Leaving everything behind in a place that would have eventually confined me was truly the best thing that ever happened to me.
