Laura's Story

Laura is from Parma, Ohio Laura's schools include Parma Senior High School (drivers education), miami dade junior college 1981, Normandy High School Graduate 1976 Normandy a note I really liked mass media class and note hand first class, to my class a Smile. And not forgetting government class, "We the people"! I worked for Davis Bakery after school, the danish pastries were delicious, cherry, apricot, cheese, nut, and cheesecake, pies, breads, Doughnuts, I had the key to the bakery on Sunday! The pastries were hot and fresh. We sliced the breads and warmed them too. The bakery gave samples. I worked for Stancato's Restaurant serving hot bread ( the waitresses warmed the breads ) 1976, while attending Cuyahoga Community College studying anatomy and physiology, sociology, tennis, to become a nurse. I worked as a nurses aide and waitress to support college. Mama Mias Restaurant ( The Romanos) in Parma were nice to hire me as waitress, salad girl. To continue studies, went to beautiful Florida ((Miami)! My parents and brother moved to Florida and started into Miami Dade Community College the largest community college in this nation. And there was a pool. I researched the courses &subjects available. Again I went into classes for sociology, showed a film about unions, better pay. thought was interesting, nutrition for nursing, and the anatomy at the medical campus, across from The large Jackson memorial Hospital. The classmates, friends, girls studying for nursing, would watch General Hospital at the college, (it was a weekly tv dramatic show) Miami Dade. There was a good lunch snack shop, and bookstore, to purchase college books. The school is great I really liked them. You could get dental work, you know go to the dentist, as there's a dental class, or get your spectacles, at the college , vision class. I had been accepted with Jackson Memorial Hospital Nursing and completed my first two weeks. I made A on my tests. The class was great, the teaching was, "be your patients best friend", And make them comfortable. Ask them what they would like. Good teaching, I believe. assessments of patients, Planning, implement the plans, charting are test words. Nurses only legally allowed to write what they see, or have done, in patients chart. Not guesses, or copying or what may or may not have happened where the nurses wer...Expand for more
e not involved in the situation, must be the truth or is to be changed, corrected. I don't want their chart. As a patient, they hurt my eyes. As a girl, I had always wanted to become a teacher. . In Florida, I had done much volunteering for both causes, schools and hospitals. I see myself in the background though, as a visitor, volunteering. And babysitting several families (friends from church). And like to become established, moving ahead. At this point, I have found massage therapy to be important. The history of massage, and research for class reports, lets me see the purpose of touch therapy for circulation, relaxation, relieving pain, many reasons. In history, Doctors had studied massage. I have completed a written portion of massage therapy, A grades, on the dean's list. I need the on hands portion. Planning to finish and receive my license. My picture with wool cow hat, says a story. I worked for Dairy Queen. I wore the hat working for Holy Family School as lunch monitor. Just to show the children ( halloween) I worked for Dairy Queen 2021!At Strongsville south park mall. They have great fruit smoothies! And ice cream sundaes, toppings, whip cream, The sunshines in their sunceiling of the mall. As I blended the orange sunshine smoothie, the sun was shining right over us! From all you wouldn't know I have depression, but I have depression. That is I cry every day. There's is a lot to do to relieve a depression. It can't be pills. Pills have side effects. nurses over medicated, in history. That is against patients rights or choice of care. My eyesight was affected then. Times I lost my focus to see. I like to thank the Lord for all the goodness given to me. My home, my kitchen, my own table, clothing's, me, my family, lots of neices, nephews. All that my parents have done for us, and given and shared. For the good times together. For the interesting and fun friends I have met. And with the food delivery companies, instacart, doordash, this snowy winter, they are so helpful! So many delicious stores, restaurants, our own choice of foods. Here's a poem from a book, "the world is full of a number of things, I'm sure we all should be happy as kings". Here's an advice I believe , "to do what you like and get better at it." Also" the golden rule" this being Sunday, God made us to enjoy our lives.
