Laura's Story

Life I have been living in a resort town on the Eastern Shore Of Maryland since 1994 and after working full time as a manager in the restaurant industry for 11 years, I found that I just grew tired of the same routine day after day so I decided that it was time for me to be my own boss and start doing my own thing. It was kind of a scary decision, but I decided to start a cleaning business and built a nice client base for myself and after 2 years of my venture I find that I could not be happier. My two sons are now 19 and 17 and time is passing almost too quickly! Seems like just yesterday when I was a teenager driving my mom nuts! My eldest finally decided to give college a try and has chosen Psychology as a major(he says he wants to try to figure me out--"yeah well, good luck with that" I say.) My youngest is pretty focused. He loves sports and computers. He plans to go to college after graduation next year. I Love living where I'm at--The Ocean is at my fingertips, sand is under my feet and I see the most amazing sunsets. I feel that I am very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place. I have been able to keep in touch with some old friends over the years and I would love to get in touch with some more. I find that I become bored easily though with computers and so I seem to remain out of "the loop".(perhaps in this age I should try harder to stay focused on technology) I...Expand for more
guess I just find it difficult to stay in one place for any length of time. Living in a resort town like this there's always something to do. I prefer it when the weather is a little more on the warmer side because I enjoy boating, swimming and spending time on the beach. There's no other feeling like being done work by 12 o'clock in the afternoon on a beautiful day and going out with friends on a boat for happy hour. I have always like to write poetry, so I sometimes find myself inspired by something as simple as a breeze or a child's laughter. I don't live far from Assateague Island, which is a barrier island where wild horses and deer will come right up on you. When my boys were small, I would take them there at sunset and we would just "watch". Now that they are older, I'll drive there sometimes with my dog and take in the sights and sounds. I tried photography for a while and a lot of my photos were taken there. I guess I should have tried to coordinate my poetry and photographs but never quite went to that level.(who knows...maybe I'll give that a try) I guess there are a lot of things left that I would like to do. Now that my sons are old enough to look after themselves, I think it is time to start traveling. I've traveled to some places in Europe, I'd love to go back and see even more. There are a lot places I'd like to go, so it may be time to begin some new adventures.
