Laura's Story
Life
I have been married to my husband, Frank, for 26 years and we have 2 sons. Our oldest son, Frank is 26 and is a real estate agent and a contractor. He is single and has 4 dogs. Our youngest son, Chase, is 23 and is a chef and lives in Louisville, KY. He is single also and has 2 dogs...so I have 6 grand dogs! My husband is a real estate investor/developer and contractor and he and our oldest son work together in our business. After my kids were born I stayed home with them until they started school. I then went to Columbia State Community College and graduated in 1995 as an RN. I worked as an RN for about 5 years, then quit to help my husband with his business. I decided I liked working for him better than nursing so I have continued to help him. We also own multiple commercial rental properties that I manage. e-President of the Friends of the Humane Society of Dickson County. We are a non profit group dedicated to the improvement of the shelter and raising funds to build a new shelter. My work with Pit Bulls is my passion and I am committed to the Dickson Humane Society to save all the Pit Bulls that are surrendered there. I have placed them in home all over the US. I also work with a larger non profit rescue, Companion Pet Rescue, as a volunteer and assist with abused dogs and adoption events. I have one Pit Bull, T-Bone who is 5 years old, and one cat, Zonie who is 18 years old. We are in the process of building a new home in Dickson, TN. We love to travel and recently purchased property in the Bahamas where we are building a house. We love to scuba dive and deep sea fish. I love to read and write and am in the process of writing a book about my rescue experiences. We would like to travel more and work less! I guess that's called retirement!
