Laura's Story
After graduation I went to Fort Hays for three years (88-91). I lost my mind, got married (91) to Robert Thayer and moved to Norfolk Virginia. I had my son Christifer (92), got divorced (93), and (although I loved it there) moved back to Kansas (there's a lot to be said for the lack of crime and being able to have your kids walk to school)(95). I started a home day care in Virginia and carried on with day care in Kansas. I married Kyle Lines (class of 1990) and gained another son, Kayler (98). I had our son Keagan a year later (99) and then came our son Cooper (01). I continued to have day care in our home until 02, at which time I lost my mind again (just a small mid-life crisis) and decided I neede...Expand for more
d out of the house. I worked waiting tables until we moved to McCook, NE (03). In Nebraska I worked as a desk clerk at Days Inn and then at a day care center until I realized that I really liked being at home and started my day care again (03). So, on the q&a "what do you get paid for" all of those things apply to my life with children. I have a sideline career catering parties, which I love, and seem to be talented at, although to call it a career is a stretch as I get paid enough to cover expenses. I have made several wedding cakes, catered a coctail reception for a friends wedding, another friends rehersal dinner, graduation parties, baby showers, and the new mommy dinners organized at our church.
