Laura's Story
In a nutshell -
After high school I took art and architecture classes at ICC, Bradley and U of I summer school.
Became a chef's apprentice in Peoria, got married, and started drawing caricatures at parties.
Moved to Birmingham, Alabama with my then-husband and continued both my cooking and caricature/illustration careers.
Got divorced, got a dog, scaled back cooking to part-time, focused on caricature and illustration, and spent my ample spare time seeing bands, going to clubs, generally goofing off, enjoying life and having fun.
Moved to San Francisco flying by the seat of my pants with no job, no plan and an unrealistic yet certain belief that I would have a wonderful life getting lots of work in caricat...Expand for more

Through a series of amazing coincidences and people with hearts of gold, opportunities showed up and things turned out pretty well.
So here I am - I've taught art classes, drawn thousands of caricatures and illustrations, and live in a nice apartment in a great neighborhood in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. My steady clients have included Restoration Hardware, Levi's, and for the past seven years have put my architecture and cooking background to use with illustrations for Pottery Barn/Williams-Sonoma.
Now I'm starting a second career doing commercial voice overs, and have an unrealistic yet certain belief that this will turn out pretty well, too. Stay tuned.
