Laura's Story
Life
Since graduating from Dentsville, I have moved around quite a bit. Attended college in Kentucky, moved back to Columbia for three years, then on to Florida. I worked for Technicolor Government Services at Kennedy Space Center, and then returned to retail management. I spent nine years in Miami, with TJ Maxx and Lechters and then retired and moved back to Kentucky.
Ispent 6 years in the town of my birth
being the caregiver and best friend to my Grandmother, who passed away just shy of her 101st birthday. We had a ball together and kept a toe in the retail world working at the local JC Penney's. Very small town, very much of a culture shock after being gone for
43 years. But what...Expand for more
an honor to have spent time with such a wonderful woman.
I am now in Nicholasville, KY managing a group of 16 townhouses and overseeing necessary repairs for my brother. I don't travel much anymore
but did quite extensively while living in Miami. Now, I hang out with my Lhasa Apso, keep a toe in retail and
try to help when someone needs it.
No children of my own, but I do have some great neices and nephews that I spoil and two great-nephews. I am enjoying here, it is a sweet little town with a lot of character and a great respect for the past. It is close enough to a larger city, so I don't feel smothered, but I like being able to run all my errands and be home
in less than two hours.
