Laura's Story

Life: *Was born in San Diego, CA and when I was 4yrs old we moved to Oahu, Hawaii. After about a year or so there, we moved to Meridian, MS. I often wonder what life would've been like if we'd stayed in either Cali or Hawaii. *I am an RN *Married *I now have 4 kids - a daughter - Shellye, who is married and lives in Union, MS -a son - Tanner, who attends Clarkdale High School, plays on the HS-Boys soccer team(#15) and is also a member of the Boys Varsity cross country team and track team - "GO DAWGS!" My two newest additions are Kristin and Ryan...both do well academically and athletically...Ryan will be playing All Stars Baseball this summer. *I have two granddaughters - Trinity, and little sister, Briley *I am the sister of Geoff Miller(2/23/69-4/10/94) and I miss him EVERYDAY...I also miss my Mom who passed away in 1989. School: Went to Meridian Public Schools until 10th grade(MHS-Harris Campus) and then transferred to West Lauderdale High School where I graduated a year ahead in 1983. While I made some friends at WL, I lost touch with many friends that I'd had since 1st grade at West Hills Elementary. So the move was somewhat bittersweet for me. If there were such a thing as a "do-over", I'd change a few things, not many. College: Graduated from MCC- Dec. 2001 with an Associates Degree in Nursing Workplace: Worked as a phlebotomist/lab assistant for several years before becoming an RN. As an RN, I've worked...Expand for more
mostly in Emergency and Psych. Just finished up 11 months on a travel nurse assignment in Corpus Christi, TX where I met my husband, Chris. We were married 4/30. Misc. Thoughts: I skipped a class or two in High School to go eat at Big D in Collinsville, usually with LeAnne - Woo Hoo! It was good though - I miss it! I wouldn't say I was anything "special" in high school. My best attribute then was that I could get along with most anyone...I stayed in the "Friend Zone" ALOT, so I didn't date anyone from high school. Didn't go to prom(I kinda regret that now)-I'm sure it would've been nice. Without question, the number one person on "My Heros" list would have to be my Mom, who passed away in 1989. She was a strong, determined woman. Sometimes, she couldn't see just how strong she was, but made it through much adversity. She loved life and her family and sacrificed so much, making her kids the most important thing in her life. Second on the list would have to be my kids: Shellye for becoming a wonderful mom to my granddaughters and Tanner, my Superman, for being him(you'd have to know him to understand!). All this is my inspiration. My oldest friend is Michele Webb Swanner. We met in 1976(yanno - when Frampton came ALIVE!), I was 10 & she was 12. My Mom, brother, and I moved into the apartment complex Michele lived in and we met on the playground. The rest is history! We have both relocated to Texas...funny how that worked out.
