Laura's Story
Life
It's been interesting, that's for sure...
After graduation, I attended cosmetology school, got engaged (we didn't marry) and then became a mom. My son, Ryan, is now 19 years old and is doing very well :)
I was married for four years from 1994-1998 and that marriage gifted me with my second child - a boy - Ian. He is now 9 years old and is in the 4th grade. He's amazing!!!
I remarried to one hell of a fine man - Wayne. We live in Las Vegas and between the two of us, we have five children. The three oldest (Scott 30, L'Erin 26, and Derek 25) are his and L'Erin blessed us with two grandchildren and Scott blessed us with one!
Career-wise, I spent time in cosmetology before changing gears and working for the federal government for several years. I moved on to a state service organization and then after my move to Las Vegas, I managed a medical billing office for just over a year.
Currently, I am self employed running my own business from home dealing in vintage jewelry, rhinestones, and sparkly things. I make my own hours, get to work in my comfy clothes. :) Wayne is a casino dealer at one of the nicer places in town but spent a large part of his life as a performing jazz/lounge pianist and singer (He's incredible).
In my limited spare time, aside from time with the boys, I still play piano & guitar and have done some solo studio recording (My husband owns a studio). I write a great deal (both prose and poetry) and explore the world of photography as well as digital and traditional art.

My work history prior to now, suffice it to say, is rather boring. From civil service to office management, it always felt too dry and rigid for my right-sided brain.
Currently I run my own company. It is a hodge-podge of various things and it suits me just fine as I am one of those who is often called a "Jack of all trades but a master of none."
The facet that makes the most money is E-bay. I deal in vintage jewelry and rhinestones. All from the comfort of my home office. (Life is good)
I also work as a freelance artist, mostly dealing in pin-up girls, portraiture, and sci-fi/fantasy motifs, preferring the human or human-like creature as my subject. Most of my work is now done digitally but it is done in the traditional manner. Sketch, paint, etc. by using a WACOM digitized tablet and various paint simulation programs.
Along with the art field comes my internet/graphics/webdesign/publishing endeavors. I thoroughly enjoy creating webpages and am hoping to make it a more lucrative pastime. Its always good to love what you do for a living, eh?
Unfortunately my music and poetry doesn't pay any bills, but I am still a woman obsessed with both. My poetry has been published in several respected journals and I managed to get a great deal of my music recorded here at home in my husband's recording studio. I have yet to try to market it in earnest.
That's about it - I work for myself and as such am able to be here at home with the love of my life and my boys whenever I am needed. Life is grand...
