Lauralee's Story
Life
I've been married since October 16, 1976 to Jeff Wilson. We have a son, Chris, who was born January 5, 1981. Chris is currently works as a corporate manager with Carribou Coffee, and lives in Baltimore. He has a wonderful fiancee, and they plan to marry in the next year or so.
After graduating high school, I worked in the medical field for 13 years. I did everything from Medical Assistant to Office Manager. Then I started college in 1989 at the age of 31, graduated from Medical School in 1997, and I finished my last year of my Family Practice Residency in June of 2000 -- at the ripe old age of 42. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I love working as a physician.
I've worked in several different settings, but I am currently working in what is called "Locum Tenens." It basically means working as a "traveling physician." My husband and I are currently "empy nesters," and we decided this was a great time in our life...Expand for more
to travel. The agency sets up the assignments, housing, and a rental car; and we get to travel around the country. We may even take some assignments in other countries. Once our son is married and they have children, we plan to settle near them so that we can spoil our grandchildren on a very frequent basis. Until then, we are enjoying our traveling life.
One of my other great loves is anything Disney. I have more stuffed Disney Characters than any self respecting adult should have, and I continue to collect them. When our son was younger, we made many trips to Walt Disney World. Some of our fondest memories were made there. My husband and I continue to make our yearly pilgrimage to the home of the mouse.
According to my son, the biggest advantage of my Disney addiction is that he never has any trouble buying me a gift. He knows he can walk into any Disney Store, and he's guaranteed to find something I will love and treasure.
