Laurel's Story
Life
After graduating from UCSB, I married Noel Dahlen to whom I was happily married for over 48 years. He died in 2020, and it has been an adventure adjusting to life as a single person.. We have 4 wonderful children and 6 delightful grandchildren., one of whom went to heaven at 18 months old. After staying home to raise my children, I painted murals for five years I painted a 65’ x 4’ mural for Bristol Farms in Manhattan Beach (now replaced). Workplace
I love to teach art! When my children were in school, I developed an after school art program for elementary students which I taught for 6 years. I taught privately,in addition to teaching art to Junior High students in a Christian school for 8 years and now have taught High school students at the same school for 29 years. (Some of those years overlapped). I loved the opportunity to change students' concepts about their ability to draw and to help them become successful.
