Laurel's Story
Life
My Husband and life
I met a man online. I moved from California to Georgia to be with him. We got married about 2 years later. We recently celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We bought our first house. We had it built so we got to watch it in stages. It was amazing, but painstakingly hard to wait. Took a little more than 2 months from the time the foundation was laid. He is a project manager with a surveying company, and he was going to school to become a licensed surveyor and be GIS certified. He also has a degree in Electrical Engineering. He loves his family. I love his family. Currently (11/07) things aren't so wonderful. We are now separated and will get divorced. The state of SC says you have to wait a year, and so we will. I didn't want it to come to that, but he has played the cards, so be it. I will keep you updated.
My Kids
I have 2 wonderful sons, ages 25 & 26 (at this writing). Currently the youngest and his wife moved to SC almost a year ago. Upon thier arrival I found out I was about to become a grandmother for the first time. My first grandson was born January 30, 2005. Being a grandparent is the best. Sure brings back memories of his father... August 2006 I was made a grandmother again. The eldest was in the Army. Things happened and it didn't work out so well. But I love my children unconditionally, and support them and love them.
My Pets
I have 2 cats and a dog that are so much like children. All of them are adopted. Sasha, the oldest and first adopted was an abused cat I adopted from ARF. She is a solid black bohemian. Long, Tall, and sleek. Gidget is the youngest cat, but middle "child" she found her way onto our door...Expand for more
step at 3 in the morning. She is a grey tabby and keeps us on our toes. We love them both dearly and could never imagine being without them. Gidget had lifelong kidney and liver problems that eventually took her from us. Sasha apparantly died from a broken heart a month later. Just before my 1st grandson was born I gave my husband a puppy for his birthday. We adopted a boxer/pit mix puppy from a boxer rescue. She is a lot of fun and a lot of work. Since all of our animals have been rescued we have spent a great deal of time attending to their needs. I also have a rottweiler that I rescued from sure death. She was severely malnourished, flea infested and had a strong case of parvo. With a wonderful vet and much love and attention she pulled through it. Now you would never know. They pay it back daily, ten times fold...... I couldn't imagine my life without my pets. I have now rescued a kitten that I had to bottle feed along with 2 siblings (that I adopted out) and adopted another kitten from a kitten rescue group here locally. They keep me busy now.
My Job
I am a Plant Office Administrator for a rock quarry in the Upstate of South Carolina. Which means I do a lot of paperwork, scale, weigh and issue tickets to truck drivers. I do all administrative work for the plant including but not limited to, payroll, purchase orders, credit card reconcilliations, HR, surrogate mothering, best friend, etc. There is continuous learning, and never ending paperwork. But never before have I had a job that I loved so much. I could not imagine working for a better company or with a better group of guys. I am the only female at our quarry. But they treat me with great respect.
