Laurelle's Story
10-12-15. Hi old timers, Hope all are as well as can be expected at our advanced years. I believe in if it is broken and can be fixed, fix it. I have several scars to prove it. We are mostly doing quite well. I made 3 trips to Ma., NH, and Maine since April. I got back a week ago Tues. Long drive but worth it. I have been looking for a summer place for about 4 years. I finally found what I had not even consider, God does answer prayers. It is really the best alternative since it will be empty for 7 months. A Park Model RV with a Fl. room and screened in porch. It is a RV that you don't move from place to place, it's planted on a lot as in almost permanent. There is an exercise room, pool, down sized golf course, reunion area, 2 wash building etc. Just pay for 5 months rent, propane and cable/internet. This year after I got it I spent the week there, in Wells, Me. and F-S in Shirley, Ma. With my childhood friend who has COPD stage 4. Get her out, help her and just be there for her. Looking forward to Carl coming out for a while next year. If anyone has an up date email for Janet White Larson I would appreciate it. She was in York. Saw Betsey Patton for lunch before I left. She looks good and doing well. Saw Bob Speckt and wife who was at CHS until his senior year at church last year but switched church's. Anyone want to call or text, my number is 309 275-5113... Hi All,
Celebrated 45 years of marriage in April.
Need to go to KY. to see Carl's sister & family, nieces & nephews. Maybe take the long way to MA. and then go to NY ...Expand for more
on the way back. Looking forward to going East in Oct. but not until the middle of the month.
Then plan on heading west to AZ. spend a couple of months with my brother and sister-in-law, but not leaving as early. It was still miserable in IL. when we got back. Actually still is. We've had about 1 week of summer the rest has been spring rains. Close to 40 days and 40 nights of rain!
We finally got the garden in, the only thing planted on time was the potatoes on Good Friday Eve because it was going to rain on Good Friday. After all these years in IL. I'm almost a country girl, but I still call myself a city girl.
I would love to hear from anyone that remembers me.

7/12/15. I have finally for filled my dream of being home or at least close. I have bought a summer place in Wells, Maine. My childhood spent in Wells fills my heart. I probably won't be staying long this year do to complications in IL. But hopefully next year with Carl and our fur babies. We are now over the 51st year together. It's tough being this old and losing friends and family. But that's not for us to decide. I have 5 grandchildren, my oldest had 3, all 10 years apart and due to disability has been Mr Mom for all 3. They are 25, 15 & almost 5. Also a step- grandson 23. My youngest has one and she is 21 going on 35 or so she thinks. I leave Sat for my third trip east to sign papers and move in. By then I will better know how long I get to enjoy Maine. Hope all of you are well and if I don't see you on earth I'll look for you in Heaven. God bless everyone. Laurie Mabey Embry
