Laurie's Story
Life
Graduated from Dimond a year early- wasn't hard in those days to get extra credits....Went to NY for college. Spent my junior year in Israel and that was great. Right now my oldest son, 19, is learning Torah in Israel. He is really enjoying it and will probably go a second year as well.
My husband and I married in 1982. He is a Family Physician and enjoys many aspects of his work.
I am a homemaker- and feel blessed that is what I am able to do.
In the working world I spent most of my time as a real estate agent. It was a great job for me as I like making "matches." I also spent time as a Weight Watchers Leader. One of my biggest accomplishments is weighing 25 pounds less than I did in high school! (And much less than I did in college!)
I also was an NCSY Coordinator for Jewish youth in upstate NY, that I managed from my apartment ...Expand for more
in Brooklyn, where I lived three years after college. When I married my husband, we lived In Seattle, for the last fifteen years, across the bridge from Seattle in Mercer Island.
In Mercer Island we helped start a new orthodox synagogue, Congregation Shevet Achim. Basically, we ran it for the first five years. Now is it quite established and we get to "sit in the back row" and watch others volunteer. Our youngest leads the closing prayers each Saturday morning.
Our three boys are ages 19, 13 and 8. Having children is the greatest thing in the world.
Will write more later....gotta take my kid somewhere...as usual!
update Sept 23 2009. My oldest is now married, my middle son is 17 and learning in Israel, and the youngest becomes a bar mitzvah in two weeks. Time flies.
I'm back at work as a Weight Watchers leader! leaderlaurieATaol.com
