Laurie's Story
Wow! This was so long ago, and so much has happen during this time, But I will try. I was put in Saint Mary's home as soon as I got out of school. My parents were both alcoholic's. My father came home from work and decided to get drunk for a year. That is why I was put in the home. I was there till 1969. I got out just before I turned 18. e child by him. I was married to him 18 years. We moved to Tennessee and I lived there for 25 years. I worked at odd jobs till I retired from Greer's. There was so much that happened in my life that I hate to say this, But I guess that I blocked a lot of what happen at Mertz out of my mind. I had my yearbook, and my first husband threw it away.
