Laurie's Story
Life
I'm happily married to my husband Todd since June 2002. We have two beautiful daughters, Olivia 2yrs. and Ariel 5 months. We also have our cat Honey. We live in a small town (300 people) in the beautiful lakes country of west-central Minnesota. We live in an old home that we've remodeled with a big backyard for the girls. After high school, I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Morris, which is 25 miles from where I live now, in 1995 with degrees in Social Work and Sociology. I have stayed in Minnesota since I graudated from college since my family also lives here and I grew-up in Minnesota. We keep very busy taking care of the girls and with our jobs. commutes 160 miles round trip per day to Willmar, pop. 12,000, because the job he had in our school district was cut 2 years ago due to budget cuts. It's too bad because the school was just behind our backyard. But, he's working on his Master's degree in Administration and hopes to finish up in the next year or so and find a job in the area as a principal. My husband is from a small town in northwest Minnesota, by the Canadian border.
We love spending time with our family and on the lake. My parents live 5 miles from here on a farm on the lake, the place where my dad grew up. We love going for boat rides and I enjoy tubing and waterskiing. We keep our horses (that we got in Rock Springs)and more cats and dogs at my parents' farm. Someday, we hope to build a home on the lake, just down from my parents. For now, we live in the big city of Barrett.
