Lawrence's Story
I, Lawrence, left Canada with my wife Doris (Studensky) and 2 children in 1985 for Switzerland, where I worked with a number or organizations doing music, charity, etc. We did a lot of traveling in the former East Bloc countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Russia etc. We moved to Poland in 1992 and lived there for 3 years again doing charity work, music, etc.
The days in Mr. De Boer's band at CJSS and Mr. Poole's band at CSSS. were paying off!
In 1995 we moved back to Winnipeg, Canada in order to enable our 2 kids to graduate from a "normal" school and pursue professions of their own. We had been doing home schooling with our kids until they were in the 9th and 10th grades. From Winnipeg we moved to Edmonton where Lawrence jr., our son, graduated from Grant McEwen College with a jazz degree on trombone. Our daughter Kristi studied banking and went on to a career with the Bank of Montreal. I had the privilege of working with "stars" such as Celine Dion, Reba McIntyre, the Chieftains and other names during this tenure in Canada.

nich for 3 years - love that Oktoberfest - and then to Nuernberg for 3 years. The moves went full circle when we moved back to Switzerland in 2006 where we have been ever since. Our son died in an accident in Edmonton in 2007 after being hit by a car while crossing a pedestrian zone in his wheelchair. (He was physically handicapped from birth) Life goes on and it has only been our faith which has kept us happy and content in knowing we are where we need to be in life.
Kristi has given us 2 awesome grandsons now 8 and 9 years old. She married a German and lives on the Swiss/German border about 1 1/2 hours away from us.
At present I am teaching music, leading a music school, touring with my big band (Cuba, Europe, Africa and Israel) and just generally enjoying life in Europe. Switzerland is a great place to live: 1 1/2 hours to France; 1 hour to Germany; 2 hours to Italy; and 2 1/2 hours to Austria.
I've got great memories of a lot of classmates, teachers and others that have accompanied me on my journey in Chilliwack and elsewhere. If you knew me, drop me a line, it would be great to hear from you.
