Lawrence's Story
Life
I left for the Air Force just a couple of months out of school. Did most of my time overseas (Germany, England, and Italy). I met Callie there, my Daughter Daniella's mom. We got married in Italy. Came to Mississippi because the Air Force lost my paperwork, and I've been here ever since. We got divorced back in 98. I have dreams of going back home at some point in the future. I miss the Mountains/Snow/Desert, and REAL hunting!!
School
Nothing much to say here except that I miss the friendships that were made there, the good times in band, swim team, and some of the teachers.
Workplace
Started my first career in the Air Force, as a Wideband Communications Specialist. Did that for 9 yrs.
Started my second career as a Registered Nurse after I got out of the service. First Nursing job was on the Orthopedic floor, that was tiring, not only the work, but the 1...Expand for more
hr interstate drive to get there. After that I found what I am still doing, ICU. It's very challenging, and very rewarding at times. I am also working in ER now and doing some House Supervising.
Who knows what's next.!?
Well I figured out what's Next....I'm still in nursing, just a different facet of it. Now, I'm a Nurse Manager. I started out with ICU and Med/Tele, but that was bit overwhelming. I am over the ICU now, I have a couple of other people under me that aren't in ICU, but it's definitely less stress and workload than when I had Med/Tele too.
Military
Truth is I miss the military, not sure I should have left now that I think back about it. I used to work on radio equipment, on anything from voice multiplexers to Troposcatic radios.
God bless all those who served, are serving and who are thinking about it. Just like anything else, it's what you make of it.
