Leah's Story
Life
Greetings, I attended Washingtonville High, NY, and Alameda High, CA, for 2 years each, dad in Air Force, one brother, Dan Woodward.
Three children, one husband, college, living in Washington state. Worked at Hanford Nuclear Reservation for ten years. Now delivering USA TODAY.
Husband accomplished violinist, other instruments.
My dear brother passed away in 1994 of a brain anuerysm. He was 42 and was a marriage and family counselor.
School, High School
I always remember the beautiful trees and country scenes outside of Washingtonville, NY. We went half days for a year when the new high school was being built in 67-68. The bus rides were freezing, and girls had to wear skirts back then. Humid summers, snowy winters.
Alameda, CA is a beautiful city too; we loved South Shore, and spend time there every chance we get when visiting my folks.
We moved a lot, so I attended school in The Azores, Georgia, South Carolina, New York, Minnesota, California, Washington, and college in Oregon.
Music was my other favorite past-time, violin and singing.
College

verall, I'm so glad I went to a Christian college.
That's where I met my husband. We were in several music groups.
Being at the same school for 4 years was the record for living in one place for me, considering my military upbringing.
Workplace
Worked at Capwell's in downtown Oakland during part of high school and college breaks.
Worked at Bob's Hamburgers through 2 years of college.
Hired by Westinghouse Hanford, nuclear research facility, 1973. Clerk, technician, budget analyst. Interesting work and friendly people. Good bosses made all the difference.
Later worked part-time in Purchasing at Rockwell. Quit to stay home with our young children. Homeschooled approx. 7 years, nurturing our children at home.
Now delivering USA TODAY 5 days a week and am home during the day.
Military
I feel like I was in the military, since I grew up in an Air Force family. My dad was stationed in various countries in which we couldn't live, about 4 1/2 years overall. Military wives are strong.
Parents raised in the Midwest, and we lived on both coasts. So we traveled a lot to see family and the beautiful countryside of this great nation. God bless America.
