Leah's Story

Life I've spent the majority of the last 20 years working for the government, in one way or another, I came back on active duty in 1993. After spending the last 5 and a half years at Fort Bragg, NC, Uncle Sam at long decided it was time to move. We are now in Sioux Falls, SD and liked it pretty well...then winter arrived!! I have one daugher, Lyda, 22 years old. She stayed in NC to finish college and Basic Law Enforcement Training. She was a deputy sheriff, but has had to transfer over to the detention center due to health problems. She hasnt' given up hopes of eventually going to the FBI. She's getting married this summer (August 2007), helping her plan and put things together from so far away is interesting. g a military "dependent" and following me around, but after learning that the Army upped the enlistment age to 42, he decided to take advantage of it. He got out of the Army in 1989 as a Sergeant, but had to go back in as PV2...what a shock that pay check was!! He's now stationed at Fort Campbell, KY and we're hoping the Army will move me there before the end of the year (2007), but so far they're saying next year. We do know he'll be going to Afghanistan in April for at least 15 months, something he's excited about, but I dread. My family still lives in the big city of Nicholasville, so I try to get home about once a year. Now we have the fun of trying to go see my mother-in-law in Jackson, KY at least once a year too, rather I try to convince Lee he needs to go see his mother at least once a year. He really hates going down in there unless we can talk his brother and his family to go too, then it's a nicer time.
