Leanne Travis:  

After high school I first went to travel school, then decided it would be fun to travel, but it certainly didn't pay well. I went back to Iowa Western for my associates, Buena Vista for my bachelor's in Elem. Education and then on for my master's at Morningside in School Counseling. I have taught 5th and 6th Social Studies and Reading (7 yrs. at Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla, north of Harlan), K-8 Talented and Gifted and K-8 Counselor (4 yrs. in Dunlap and Dow City) and got into Harlan School District as a K-5 Counselor (8 years ago). I decided last year, to go back to the classroom and switched to the Harlan Middle School, 8th grade to teach Am. History.(Shawn Wharton took my old job! Go AHST grads!) I am married (since 88) to Marvin Travis (originally from Missouri). We recently built a home on the west side of highway 59, just as you enter Harlan from the south. We have 3 kids, Courtney, a senior, Brock, a freshman and Kyle in 5th grade. Kyle and Courtney look like and usually act like me. Brock looks and acts more like his Dad.
